LITTLE MS. TAYLOR IS 1

We are still in shock out how quickly this year has flown by...Taylor is one, crazy!  She has had quite the successful year...stock market earnings, world peace, you know nothing big....if only.  But we are so impressed at how much she has proven all the doctors wrong with being a preemie.  She hasn't had one delay in her development.  Sorry some bragging is going to occur if you want to skip down...She started sitting up at about six and a half months and not long after that started crawling.  She learned how to climb up the stairs the last time we were in Utah which was at the beginning of June, thanks to Kevin, and is super quick to get up them.  She hasn't quite figured out how to go down yet.  In fact she had quite the spill at a friend's home that had us a little worried but she was fine.  On her birthday we had my parent's out for a visit, we all had so much fun.  Also on her birthday she took her first couple steps and broke her first tooth.  She still isn't walking but loves to be brave and take a couple of steps from the couch.  She still only has one tooth in there, which looks kind of funny, I would take a picture but she is too quick to get one of her holding still.  We decided to get her an extremely large cupcake for her cake and she was in heaven.  She grabbed it with both hands and dug in, it was so fun to watch her enjoy it.  She is definitely her mother's daughter, she LOVES chocolate, I know we're bad parents for giving it to her.  Kevin started it, gave her a sip of a chocolate shake, she was hooked after that.  I took her to the doctor last week and the doctor was so impressed at how she is doing.  Her overall growth is a lot smaller then Reagan ever was but hey that's okay, she does have a 1/4 Japanese in her.  Her percentiles...10th for weight, 16th for height, and 66th for head circumference. Lots of brains is what the doctor said.  We sure love our Tay Tay, Tayter Tot, Twiggy (a nickname from the beginning), McStinky, and all of the daily names we come up with around here.  She is such a joy and we are so happy to have her apart of our family.  Happy 1st Birthday Ms. Taylor!
A COUPLE MORE UPDATES...
Some of you know by now but to inform the rest of you Kevin started a new job on July 22nd.  He was working for the state and wasn't all too happy with the job.  And two years later he was offered a job after only a phone interview with the City and County of Denver.  He is still doing the same thing, performance auditing but it's with a city which is the direction he wants to go in.
I've been working since February at 24Hour Fitness as a service rep at the front desk.  I didn't think I would love going back to work but I really have.  Kevin is home with the girls when I go to work so no extra costs with daycare, which really wouldn't make sense to do anyway.  And he loves spending time with them so it's a win win.  The whole situation has been pretty great, the best part I've lost at least 10 pounds from starting this job.  Apparently standing up for 15 hours a week makes you loose weight, who would have thought.
Little Ms. Reagan starts Kindergarten on August 18th...I know I've said it before...but I'm going to be the weepy Mom when I drop her off.  She is so excited to be so grown up and go to school, finally.  We're so excited for her too.
So that is what is the latest with the Vehars.  We're gearing up for another BYU Football season, two trips to Utah and a trip down to the Air Force Academy are already planned.  Goodbye social life, hello Cougars!  Love to all!

AND THE AWARD GOES TO....

Dana Vehar: World's Worst Blogger.  I shouldn't even call myself a blogger...hmmm....well too much brain power for tonight to think of a better term for my "blogging."  But I was getting tired, as I'm sure the two people that check my blog are getting, of seeing the same post for five months now.  So apologies two people but here is a new picture of my little girls (and yes Taylor does smile but only for random old ladies in stores).
I really should try harder to just document the happenings (as some people call them) of our little lives.  But I'll be honest I'm sure I'll keep my trend going.
*disclaimer-I need to take a writing class to remember how to use a period, exclamation mark, etc.  Sorry two readers!

CHRISTMAS AND REAGAN'S BIRTHDAY

Okay so these pictures are a little late but oh well...Christmas was crazy but fun and it went by super quick.  The following week we had my parents and niece and nephew here for Reagan's birthday.  My sister was SUPER prego so they weren't able to come out here to CO so we both had the brilliant idea to send the kids with my parents.  They all had so much fun together.  The week was filled with staying up late (which was EXHAUSTING) and getting up early.  We had a Snow Princess party for about six of Reagan's little friends.  My friend Connie came to do face painting for the girls and they loved it (Reagan's favorite part of the party).  It was two hours of chaos, but Reagan had so much fun with all of her little friends and cousin.  Also on the agenda.. seing Princess and the Frog, super cute and surprisingly everyone enjoyed it.  And Kevin took the kids sledding the last day they were here.  We all had a ton of fun and so glad my parents could come out to CO and the kids could come with them.

2009

This has been quite the whirlwind year.  This time last year we had just found out we were pregnant, and not long after that I started to feel pretty cruddy!  I'm not sure if most of you know but I had a pretty big scare with my pregnancy with Taylor (beside the having her six weeks early).  At about 10-11 weeks along I began bleeding heavily, we were sure that we were going to miscarry, but thankfully it was nothing.  Though after that we still had our fair share of ups and downs.  At my 20 week appointment they were concerned that my protein and blood sugar levels were high, so I had to do some more fabulous tests to rule out gestational diabetes and high blood pressure, again everything came back normal, all just a little stressful.  And then there was pretty smooth sailing after that, I was feeling a lot more normal just excited to see our little Tay.  Then 33 weeks role around and well you know the rest.  I can't say enough how grateful we are to our loving Heavenly Father!  This entire experience with Taylor made us truly realize the importance of the gospel in our lives.  Just a quick share about Taylor's blessing that I didn't mention in that post...Kevin shared his testimony about the power of the Priesthood, and I have to second it!  My own testimony of the priesthood was strengthened during this time, I know because of the priesthood that our little Taylor is doing so well!  There are times now that we just look at her and are humbled by the blessing that she is!  If you can't tell she's a keeper, we all kind of like her!!
As I reminisce about last year I also think back on all the wonderful support we received during this crazy time and also the craziness that was my pregnancy.  Reagan was so understanding, the poor kid watched movie after movie some days when I was in the worst of it!  She has been such a amazing big sister, constantly helping with whatever I ask her to do.  Her favorite thing lately is being the first one in her room after her naps or just waking up in the morning.  Sometimes they'll even have a little time just to themselves and play and giggle at one another, it's so sweet!  We're so proud of our little Reagan, I'm kind of in shock right now, she just turned five, and I still can't believe it!!  She is just growing up too fast for me, sadly at one point in her short little life I wanted her to grow up super quick and start school and just be grown up but now I realize that I need to cherish this time in her life more.  She will start school in late August and I know I'll be the Mom sobbing my little eyes out as she walks into school for the first time.  So needless to say I'm trying to enjoy her more.
So to sum up this extremely long rant...I am so grateful for the year of 2009!  It was filled with so many new and different experiences but we wouldn't trade them.  Our family has been strengthened through these experiences and we are so grateful for another year together to learn and grow.  We wish everyone a successful and happy 2010!
